Network
Storage Solutions, a Planned Acquisition of IQ Biometrix,
Signs Multi-Year OEM Software Agreement with Inno Micro
of Japan
FREMONT,
Calif., June 17, 2003
IQ Biometrix Inc. IQBM announced today that Network Storage
Solutions (NSS) has entered into a multi-year, $1 million
OEM agreement with Inno Micro Corporation of Japan.
"NSS
continues to prove its position in the network storage market
place through the signing of Inno Micro and its most recent
announcement of InVision Technologies. This planned acquisition
is on track to deliver the expected expansion of IQB's geographic
presence and further its position in the Home Land Security
market," said Bill Scigliano, CEO and President of
IQ Biometrix.
IQB
announced in May that it had entered into a letter of intent
for the acquisition of NSS, a leading developer and supplier
of network storage software and products for security and
other applications.
Inno
Micro Corporation of Japan is a leading system integrator
that provides storage solutions for major Japanese manufacturers.
Under the terms of the agreement, NSS will supply its award
winning SPANStor software for integration with the Inno
Micro server which, when combined with a storage system,
provides a powerful NAS solution.
The
agreement represents a major endorsement of its technology
for the international market place and the recognition of
its SPANStor operating system as a compelling Network Attached
Storage solution. Roger Kirkland, VP International Sales
for NSS said "It allows NSS to extend its products
offerings to the Japanese market through a strong partner
that will provide the total solution as well as service
and support for the customer base."
The
SPANStor V5 NAS software is built on an open, NetBSD kernel
with a powerful Journaling File System that was designed
to operate on virtually any Intel based server platform.
The backend storage attachment is agnostic as SPANStor's
O/S will support multiple storage suppliers. Optional products
include SPANSync file replication and data migration, Fail-Over
functionality and virus scanning licensed through NAI.
Mr.
Fukuoka from Inno Micro stated, "After extensive evaluation
the NSS SPANStor O/S proved to be the most robust and provide
the strongest feature set for our customer base. We are
looking forward to taking the product to our market and
have several significant customers currently in beta programs."
Inno Micro provides a complete line of storage solutions
for Japanese customers today and expects the NAS offering
to complete their network storage product line.
"This
agreement will have long-term strategic benefits, by providing
continued growth in diversified markets outside the USA.
Inno Micro is our first major announcement internationally
and we expect several additional contract signings this
year," added Mr. Kirkland.
